Recyclable cards
Bio-PE is the material we use for our fully recyclable cards. We have two types: lime-based and cane sugar-based. The lime-based Bio-PE cards in particular are indistinguishable from traditional plastic, because they have a PETG laminate. An environmentally friendly alternative that does not compromise on quality. Both card types are 100% reusable and are produced in a way that releases less greenhouse gases.
Biodegradable cards
One of the most popular materials is Bio PVC. This type of plastic is completely biodegradable in nine months to five years. The card automatically biodegrades in a fertile environment such as compost or water. This makes the material a lot more environmentally friendly than traditional PVC.
Chlorine-free cards
Many of our customers choose PET-G gift cards. This type of plastic has the same properties as PVC, but is more environmentally friendly. For example, they can be recycled without releasing harmful gases. Olivier Somer, CRM Manager at Praxis, is very pleased with the material. Olivier: “If such an environmentally friendly alternative exists, the choice is quickly made for me. PET-G is not too expensive and the cards have a nice, sturdy quality.”

Of course it is great that there are environmentally friendly alternatives, but what does that cost? Well, let’s be honest, environmentally friendly cards are slightly more expensive than traditional plastic. But in the end it’s all not that bad. Many of our customers find Corporate Social Responsibility so important that they are happy to go the extra mile. We are happy with that, because at Cards Unlimited we also try to have as little environmental impact as possible.
